FLORENCE KNOLL
Been born to the United States in 1917 Architects, she studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, to the association of architecture of London and to the Armory Institute of Chicago. In 1943 she was hired as interior architect with Hans Knoll and has to reorientate the Scandinavian style of the business towards a more international style. She equally married Hans Knoll and associated itself with him within his business. Its own designs are reserved, cool and angular, reflecting his modernistic sensitiveness. This is thanks to Florence that Hans began producing statuesque modern furniture, as the chair Thimble of Saarinen, the low table of Isamu Noguchi or again the chair Diamond of Harry Bertoia. During the years 50, Florence Knoll continued has to modernize the distinctive look Knoll, supervising all the aspects of the identity of the business, design of the showrooms to the graphic design. Knoll is the one of the businesses more respected and the 3rd bigger factory of furniture of the world.
