CHARLES POLLOCK

He was born in 1930 in Philadelphia, he is the brother of the famous painter Jackson Pollock.
He studied to the Cass Technical College of Strait from 1944 till 1949. He picked up then a scholarship of Pratt Institute for design where he obtained his license. He began to work with George Nelson, then with the Knoll Development Group for Design. He opened his own studio in 1958. He drew his first chair in 1In 1960 in collaboration with Florence Knoll. The model in leather "n° 657" had so many success as it sued the development for some to create the famous one "Chair Pollock", the direction seat the most sold one of all the history of the design of the furniture of office. The chair Pollock was launched in 1965 and occupies these days a place of honor to the museum of the Louvre to Paris. Pollock created the chair Pénélope for Castelli/Haworth in 1982. It has besides created a new tendency regarding ergonomics while mixing the styles of its seats.
