Sandrine & Riccardo Barilla
In a world where “I” is “us”, Sandrine and Riccardo Barilla were first both working in finance, and they now share their lives, their passion and their work. Their individual, common, or complementary photos chock, bother or make us smile. Using chocolate, negative or black and white, photography is the best way for them to interpret their feelings, transform matters and reproduce actual schemes.
To realize their works, they either use silver or digital techniques. Most of the time, they frame under an acrylic glass and edit large sizes in small serials.
SERIALS
• Iron
The obvious and essential aspect of the object, by discrepancy, may also become totally abstract.
• Divorce
What happens behind the smile of the children when their parents get divorced? Let’s talk, for once, of what’s unsaid.
• To copy
It is a sweet mix between Switzerland and the art of the 70s. One retains the chocolate for one, and images for the other. Time goes by, but they don’t change, neither of aspect nor of importance. Adapted to the world today, recaptured and reworked, these icons are offered as a mix of materials, symbols and colors.
• Mobile Vision
They associate to stone and construction the idea of durability in time. Modern architecture re-establishes and transforms old buildings to make them comply with our expectations. This work on the modification of the space is similar to the photographic work of the Barilla couple who emphasize another aspect of the topic. The atmospheres, the places or the details have been isolated and the transformed in order to get away from reality and to let imagination do the rest.
• Undisclosed
The Barilla put forward what’s usually intimate and jealously kept away from the others in a cell-phone. Feelings, acts, facts and secrets of our private life are divulged every day and kept into the memory of this trivial object. But trivial matter has become a protection, in order to protect better what one whishes to hide from the others. The theme is precise: the disclosure of what often remains undisclosable nowadays.
• Invisible Mountain
It is a harmless fact, but that bothers to such a point that it becomes unbearable. It is just an insignificant detail compared to the importance of a couple. This serial offers to bare a delicate and elaborate dynamic: the unconscious accumulation within the couple, of little details that become problems leading to dispute.

TABLES
Apart from the photos, Sandrine and Riccardo Barilla also propose tables with removable tabletops that enable us to change the images according to their creations and desires.
